Meet the Artist

Art is an experience. It starts with a single brush stroke. ~ W. JEAN

Who am I?

I am an Infectious Diseases physician by day, and a Baltimore-based self-taught Haitian artist by night.   I am originally from New Jersey and have also spent some time living in New York and Philadelphia.

How did I  begin?

This journey started during my rigorous year of training as an Internal Medicine intern.  It was one of the few ways I was able to quiet my mind and allow myself to #RelaxCreateRelease.

My art has taken several forms, nowadays, from digital edits of photos, digital creations, and some sketches.  Primarily, I paint my first love: acrylic on canvas.

Years later, I have continued to turn to my canvas for therapy.  I started oriJEANal Art on Jan, 1, 2020 to share my talent.

What's with the name?

oriJEANal

əˈrijənl/ (pronounced "original") noun - first of its kind; a mood and/or movement; unique and creative

oriJEANal Art is a play on my last name (JEAN) and the word original.   Because I typically create acrylic or mixed media on canvas, they are not re-produced or re-created, lending you an oriJEANal (original) art piece!  My digital creations will be limited edition prints.

What inspires me?

I am inspired by my life experiences, the simple beauties of this Earth, and I particularly am inspired by art that portrays black pride.  I do not think I have quite find my niche yet but that's the fun part! Check out the variety of products that I offer and go on this unpredictable journey with me!

I thank you for going on this journey with me and I hope you find something that speaks to you.

Remember to always Be oriJEANal!
